VITA Program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

The VITA Program offers FREE tax preparation and filing services to households that make $60,000 or less and need assistance preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provided through United Way of Cass County provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals in local communities.  Drop-off appointments are available at Area V located at 1801 Smith Street, 574-753-4451 February 5th through March 30th. After tax information is dropped off an IRS-Certified volunteer at United Way of Cass County will prepare your taxes. If your tax return contains any items that are out of scope for our program, we are unable to prepare your tax return.

We are also excited to offer completely free ONLINE tax filing for individuals or families who made less than $66,000 in 2019. United Way has partnered with H&R Block to offer this FREE service. Visit myfreetaxes.com for more information.
